  • Are some less serious than others?
  • What would you say are some common addictions where you live?
  • Why do you think that these are so common?
  • Is there help available for people who are addicted to things in your country?
  • Do you think that there should be more help available?
  • Do you smoke?
  • If so, have you ever tried to quit?
  • Why weren’t you successful?
  • Have you ever been addicted to anything?
  • Is cannabis legal where you live?
  • If so, do you agree with it being legal?
  • If it’s not legal, do you think it should be? Why?
  • Are there any other drugs that are legal in your country that you think shouldn’t be?
  • Are there any other drugs that are illegal in your country that you think shouldn’t be?
  • Do you believe in the idea of gateway drugs?
  • Have you ever met anyone you know or think might be an alcoholic? shopaholic? workaholic? Any others?
  • What consequences can you think of for different types of addictions?
  • Is tea addictive? coffee? chocolate? cheese?
  • Why do you think tobacco is legal?
  • Do you think it should be illegal?
